1st Innings

Whilst we can’t offer free trial sessions we do offer a two week paid trial, where we have availability. Please take a look at our booking page www.littlewickets.com/book to find out which sessions are currently offering trials.
And don’t foreget if you book for a full of half term and it doesn’t work out (for whatever reason) after a couple of weeks, we also have our Newcomer’s Guarantee – we Guarantee to refund you any future pre-paid sessions if you do want to cancel.

Our sessions are bookable in advance as Full or Half term blocks. The sessions must be booked and paid for in advance.

We have to maintain our low ratios of kids:coaches so unfortunately we can’t offer ad hoc walk-up sessions and nor can we offer free trial sessions. However, where we have enough availability we also offer 2 week paid trials. You can see where these are availabe on our booking page and can vary from term to term.

1st & 2nd Innings sessions cost £10 per session. Unfortunately we can’t offer Sibling Discounts for our 1st or 2nd Innings sessions.

Don’t forget we also offer a Newcomer’s Guarantee to everyone so if after 2 weeks it isn’t working out, for whatever reason, we will refund you for the future unused sessions.  Please email us (info@littlewickets.com) as soon as you know you want to cancel because unfortunatley we can’t refund sessions that have already taken place even if your child didn’t attend.

No just whatever your they are happy running around in and bring a drink. They are welcome to bring along their own plastic bat, if they have one,   but if they don’t it’s OK because we provide all the cricket equipment needed

They can certainly try the 2nd innings session and see how they get on. The classes are much bigger (more like a school class) so they may find it a bit intimidating but they are welcome to try and then can move to 1st Innings if it doesn’t suit them. Trying a different session is subject to avaialbility and session waiting lists but we will always try and find a suitable option for you.

We recognise that every child develops at differnt rates so there is no one answer for everyone, so we recommend that you talk to us (or the Coach if they are already signed up). The aim of Little Wickets is to create a life time of enjoyment of sports, so anything that helps the child feel happy playing sports we encourage. Yes they can stay or start in 1st innings if they are happier and more comfortable in a smaller group. Bear in mind that in the 1st Innings sessions most of the other children will be much younger than your child (some as young as 2 1/2 years old) which may have an impact on your child’s enjoyment of the sessions. Equally sometimes being the eldest/best (the ‘Top Dog’) in a group can be really good for a child’s confidence.

Only you can really know what is best. If you are unsure and want them to try the older larger 2nd Innings groups we are happy to let them have a go for a couple of weeks before you commit to a different session, but this is subject to availability and waiting lists for your requested sessions.

Keep talking to us & the coach … if you or your child feel that they are outgrowing their current group then we will be happy to look at all the alternatives.

Yes, there is no problem for children to move sessions mid term as long as there are spaces in the session they want to move to – please email info@littlewickets.com to discuss this.

Categories: 1st Innings, 2nd Innings

We recommend 2 1/2 as the age when most children are normally able to concentrate for most of the session. However every child is different so if you feel that your little one would be able to take instructions then they are most welcome to start. We offer a Newcomers Guarantee so if he or she isn’t happy after 2 weeks we will refund the unused sessions and then they can start again in a few months.

We recognise that every child is different and develops their skills at different rates so no one answer will do here. We recommend that you talk to us & the Coach if they are already signed up, who will be happy to discuss all the different options. The aim of Little Wickets is to create a life time of enjoyment of sports, so anything that helps the child feel happy playing sports we encourage. Bear in mind that in the 2nd Innings sessions are generally a lot busier and whilst your child’s skill levels may be equal to or better than some of the older kids they may find the more frenetic sessions too much to cope with. Sometimes being the eldest/best (the ‘Top Dog’) in a group can be really good for a child’s confidence.

Little Wickets coaches are very experienced and always make sure that every child is included and challenged (even if the child just thinks they are having fun!)

Only you can really know what is best. If you are unsure and want them to try the older larger 2nd Innings groups we are happy to let them have a go for a couple of weeks before you commit to a different session, but this is subject to the Coach feedback, availability and waiting lists for your requested sessions.

Keep talking to us & the coach … if you or your child feel that they are outgrowing their current group then we will be happy to look at all the alternatives. The main thing is that your child enjoys coming and has fun at the sessions.

Yes, but please do let us know when you book by completing the medical section in our child’s online booking informtion.   This is particulalry important at our Holiday Activities. If they carry an Epi-Pen or Inhaler and they are coming to one of our Hliday Activites please make sure our Camp Manager knows where it is located or they can look after if during the day. For Holiday Activites we would really appreciate an email in advance with the full details of any medical conditions the Coaches shoudl be aware of.

If  you are interested in one specific session that is showing as full, then please contact us (info@littlewickets.com) so that we can check availability in other sessions and add you to the waiiting list(s).

After Little Wickets

None of our regular sessions or Holiday activites involve hardball cricket nets or training.

Our weekly sessions are aimed at children aged 2 1/2 – 7 Years old and are all softball cricket based so the 1st & 2nd innings sesisons aren’t for the players that want to play hardball cricket, but our Holiday Camps might be if they are happy only doing softball activities. We often have some older (Year 5 & 6) boys and girls that have come along to our camps and enjoy all the softball cricket & team games.

If hardball cricket holiday camps are what you are after please do still get in touch – we have several partner Cricket Coaching orgnaisations who might just be offering what you are after and we’d be happy to give you their contact details.

Please email the office, info@littlewickets.com and we can advise you of a local cricket club to contact for the next steps for your child.

Little Wickets Holiday Camps are designed for children of Primary School Age in Reception to Year 6. So once they are in Year 7 at Secondary School then the Little Wickets Holiday Camps are not for them. However, if they have just finished Year 6 and are moving into Year 7 in September they can still come along and enjoy all the fun of the Summer Holiday Camps before they start Secondary School.

At the Sessions

Our sessions are 45 minutes long, but where possible we allow an hour. If the kids arrive early, the kit is often out and they can have a bit of a muck around throwing and batting with their parents and the coaches, until everyone arrives.

All equipment is provided by Little Wickets so just ensure your child brings a drink and wears comfortable clothing that they are happy to run around in.

At our Tots Hot Shot morning’s, (for children aged 3-5 years) parents are welcome to stay and watch – at West Bridgford Tennis Centre they can sit in the cafe area and see everything that is happening. Equally if they want to leave they can.

At the Primary School aged Camps, parents generally leave but we have no problem with parents staying for some or all day if they wish. At these camps, children generally settle better if their parents leave when the activities begin.
